“I’m just burned out” and burnout are the same physiology
Feeling and mechanism — two words for the same stop sign. The body says halt; we keep driving.
People joke that “burnout” is a polite word for “I’m completely done.” Neurobiology says they’re the same stop. One names the feeling. The other names the mechanism: cortisol, system drain. Call it what you want — the body hits red and we still accelerate.
Not broken — tired of abstraction
Wanting a job with visible end-of-day results isn’t “degradation.” KPI and endless reports starve dopamine. Hands-on work with a finish line feeds the brain. That’s a normal need for tangible outcomes.
Rest vs system
Wanting to disappear for a month isn’t a tantrum. It’s the brain saying capacity is low. Good news: three real days offline can help. Bad news: if a week after vacation you want to flee again — the problem is the operating system, not the weekend.
List 3 things that used to charge you. Over two weeks: real desire, or only “I should”? If only “I should” — you’re not talking about weekends anymore. You’re talking about recovery architecture. RESET is about why rest fails and where to start.
